Plans to introduce a bilateral visa-free regime were announced in April. Visa exemption allows citizens of Kazakhstan and China to visit these countries without a visa for a period not exceeding 30 calendar days (a total of 90 calendar days within 180 calendar days) from the moment of crossing the state border.
Agreement on visa-free regime between Kazakhstan and China came into force on 10 November. This date was previously announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The document was signed on 17 May in Xi'an. According to Article 1 of the agreement, citizens of the two countries are exempt from obtaining visas for personal affairs, tourism, medical treatment, international transport, transit and business purposes.
"At the same time, the period of stay of citizens on the territory of the two states should not exceed 30 calendar days from the moment of crossing the state border, and a total of 90 calendar days within 180 calendar days," the ministry said.
Visa-free regime does not give the right to work, study or engage in missionary activities.
According to the document, valid travel documents for Kazakhstanis will be:
Passport of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
A certificate of return to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
For Chinese citizens:
Semi-service passport of a Chinese citizen;
