McGregor’s Return Ends After 69 Seconds

Conor McGregor’s long-awaited return to the Octagon after more than five years ended after just 69 seconds. The Irish fighter suffered a right leg injury early in his bout against Max Holloway, forcing the referee to stop the contest and award Holloway a TKO victory.
The injury occurred after McGregor landed awkwardly while attempting a jumping kick. He tried to continue but lost his footing twice before the fight was waved off.
UFC President Dana White said the preliminary diagnosis suggests a possible tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in McGregor’s right knee. The full extent of the injury will be determined following medical examinations. White also stated that there had been no signs of a pre-existing injury before the fight.
The setback echoes McGregor’s first bout with Holloway in 2013, when he suffered a serious injury to his left knee. Despite the disappointing comeback, McGregor has said he intends to recover and return to competition.
