The European People's Party is ready to support the candidacy of Ursula von der Leyen for the post of President of the European Commission. This is reported by Brussels portal Euractiv.

Reportedly, Ursula von der Leyen has not yet announced her intention to become a candidate for the post of head of the European Commission again. She is expected to announce her candidacy at the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) congress in Berlin on 19 February.

According to Euractiv, in addition to the CDU, the nomination of von der Leyen for a second term as head of the EC can support the EPP member parties "Civic Platform" and "New Democracy".

Recall, Von der Leyen was elected as a candidate for the post of President of the European Commission on 2 July 2019, becoming the first woman in this position.
