The EU and Moldova have started the process of screening - assessment of local legislation for compliance with the European legislation.
Moldova has started the first stage of technical work on joining the European Union.
This was announced by the country's deputy prime minister for European integration, Cristina Gerasimov.
"On 7 February, we entered the first phase of technical work on Moldova's accession to the EU. We have the deepest and closest relations with the EU in the modern history of our country," she said.
The Moldovan diplomat said that in the first stage, the Moldovan legislation was assessed in comparison with the EU laws.
