The contracts cover supplies of aluminium rod, cable, zinc alloy, zinc white and plywood, as well as cooperation in the agro-industrial sector.

Uzbekistan is among Mordovia’s key foreign trade partners in Central Asia. Ivan Gorin, Mordovia’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Entrepreneurship, said bilateral foreign trade turnover had increased 2.5-fold since 2022, reaching $20 million according to official customs statistics.

Taking into account trade conducted indirectly through commercial organisations in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod, Mordovia estimates the overall annual turnover at around $70 million.

More than 20 Mordovian companies from the industrial, agro-industrial and IT sectors are taking part in the business mission. Around 80 Uzbek companies are participating in the business forum.

According to Gorin, new areas of trade are emerging between the two sides, including sectors where bilateral trade had not yet taken place in 2024.

The Mordovian delegation’s working visit to Uzbekistan runs from August 20 to 21. Alongside the business forum, the programme includes meetings with Uzbek government representatives and visits to industrial facilities.
