According to Stoltenberg, the expansion of the industrial base is necessary to increase supplies to Ukraine and replenish its own stocks.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has called on the European member states of the alliance to increase the production of weapons. This was reported by the DW news and analysis website.
"We need to reconstitute and expand our industrial base faster, to increase deliveries to Ukraine and refill our own stocks," he told Welt am Sonntag
The current pace of production, according to Stoltenberg, is suitable for peacetime, but not for a large-scale conflict.
At the same time, the NATO secretary-general reminded that the alliance was not looking for a war with Russia but should prepare for a confrontation that could last for decades. He emphasised that preventing Vladimir Putin from winning in Ukraine is an important task. "If Putin wins in Ukraine, there is no guarantee that Russian aggression will not spread further," he added.
