New Contours of Partnership with Malaysian Giant Petronas

On the sidelines of the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamahmudov, held talks with the Chairman of the Advisory Committee under the Prime Minister of Malaysia and Advisor to the "Petronas" transnational company, Tan Sri Mohd Hassan bin Marican.
The parties comprehensively analyzed the current state of bilateral ties and outlined key priorities for the further expansion of long-term cooperation in the oil, gas, and gas-chemical sectors. The meeting primarily focused on the effective deployment of advanced foreign technologies and the scaling up of the joint investment portfolio.
During a constructive exchange of views, the sides reviewed the outcomes of ongoing joint projects within the oil and gas industry and detailed the prospects for intensifying geological exploration alongside the integrated development of promising hydrocarbon fields. Special emphasis was placed on advancing high-tech projects centered on raw material extraction and downstream deep processing. A key outcome of the meeting involved agreements in the humanitarian and technical spheres: the parties reaffirmed their commitment to continuing close collaboration regarding the training and professional development of highly qualified engineering personnel. Specialized education and knowledge exchange among the professionals of both nations will be systematically executed on the premises of the Petronas University.
