Chess player Nodirbek Abdusattorov became the first Uzbek chess player to enter the world's top ten chess players, thus laying a new page in the history of Uzbekistan.

According to the rankings on 2700chess.com, Abdusattorov, a grandmaster from Uzbekistan, has secured a coveted position among the elite ten players in the world. With a rating of 2733 points, he currently holds the 10th spot, with reigning champion Magnus Carlsen leading the pack at 2823 points.

Abdusattorov's remarkable ascent was punctuated by a victory in the 1st round of the Prague Chess Festival 2024 tournament on February 27, where he defeated Dai Van Nguyen. This triumph marked a milestone in Uzbek chess history, as no player from the nation had previously achieved such a feat.

Following his win, Abdusattorov's rating soared to 2753.5 points, surpassing the legendary Viswanathan Anand, a five-time world champion. Prior to Abdusattorov's breakthrough, Rustam Kasimjanov held Uzbekistan's highest chess ranking, peaking at 11th in the world with 2715 points.

Abdusattorov's potential ascent further cements his status as a rising star in the world of chess, solidifying his place in history as one of Uzbekistan's most accomplished players.
