Priorities for reforming the railway industry
Political
With the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a meeting began on the main issues that need to be resolved in the railway sector.
Over the past seven years, the number of industrial enterprises in our country has increased 2.7 times, reaching 110 thousand, the production of more than 2 thousand types of new products has been established, and the volume of industry has increased 1.5 times.
Export volumes increased 1.6 times, reaching $19 billion last year. Due to this, cargo turnover in our country increased by 30%. In particular, cargo transportation to the city of Tashkent, Tashkent region, Samarkand region and in the region in the valley increased by 1.5 times.
At the same time, transport and logistics costs have increased several times due to the situation in the international arena.
For countries such as Uzbekistan, which do not have direct access to the world's oceans, the most convenient and cheapest transport is the railway.
But now only 5% of products on the domestic market and 45% of exports are transported by rail. That is, the railway company cannot compete with road freight transportation.
