Ramadan without markups: food fairs open in Tashkent
Uzbekistan
Ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, food fairs offering essential products at reduced prices have opened across Tashkent’s districts. The initiative follows presidential instructions and aims to support residents during the fasting period.
According to the Tashkent city administration, the trading sites have been set up at major markets throughout the capital. Their purpose is to ensure access to basic foodstuffs at affordable prices and to prevent artificial price hikes before Ramadan.
The fairs are being held at the following locations:
Yashnabad district — Aviasozlar market;
Yakkasaray district — Askiya market;
Chilanzar district — Chilanzar market;
Mirabad district — Mirabad market;
Mirzo-Ulugbek district — Navruz market;
Yunusabad district — Alay market and Yunusabad market;
Sergeli district — Sergeli market;
Uchtepa district — Farhad market;
Shaykhantakhur district — Eski Juva market;
Bektemir district — Kuylyuk market;
Almazar district — Karakamysh market.
Officials note that such fairs are traditionally organized ahead of Ramadan to stabilize prices and ensure the availability of essential food products for residents.
