Russia to Support the Launch of the First Uzbek Cosmonaut
Technology
Uzbekistan is gearing up for a historic breakthrough beyond the Earth's atmosphere. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved a roadmap to send the country's first national cosmonaut into orbit and launch its own satellite, backed by Russian technological expertise.
Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov confirmed this strategic partnership, stating that Moscow will provide all the necessary expertise to fulfill Tashkent's ambitions. A central milestone of the project will be the launch of the first national 6U scientific satellite, named "Mirzo Ulugbek," which is scheduled for 2028.
Russia will assist in training the cosmonaut and building a high-caliber engineering team. Meanwhile, the "Uzbekcosmos" Agency warns that requirements for the future space explorer will be unprecedentedly high. The entire initiative is designed to rapidly boost the republic’s scientific and technological capacity while securing its scientific sovereignty.
With the initial phases of the project already presented, the formation of a professional engineering team will be the next decisive step in putting Uzbekistan officially on the global space exploration map.
