Covering 12 million square meters near the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram), the project aims to expand the city’s capacity and modern infrastructure. It includes accommodation for nearly 900,000 additional pilgrims, the creation of new residential and cultural districts, and the development of an advanced transportation system for residents and visitors.

A key part of the plan is the preservation of Islamic heritage, with the restoration of 19,000 square meters of historic buildings.

The project is part of Saudi Arabia’s national Vision 2030 program, which seeks to diversify the economy, create up to 300,000 jobs, and increase the number of pilgrims visiting Mecca to 30 million annually by 2036.
