Scientists have developed an artificial intelligence-based decoder that can transform brain activity into a continuous stream of text. This is the first non-invasive i.e. an achievement that allows one to read a person's opinion without requiring surgical implants.
Using only fMRI scanning data, the decoder was able to reconstruct the ability to speak when people were listening to the story or even visualizing it silently. The system can help patients who have lost the ability to communicate physically.
The system works only if a particular user is trained in brain waves. This makes it useless for scanning people who have not spent hours providing fMRI data. So for now, there is no need to worry about the fact that artificial intelligence penetrates a person's thoughts against his will.
