SpaceX Conducts "Starship" Rocket Test Flight, Watched by Trump and Musk
World
On the night of November 19, SpaceX conducted the sixth test flight of the "Starship" rocket, which included a prototype of the spacecraft.
This time, alongside SpaceX founder Elon Musk, the flight was also observed by the elected U.S. president, Donald Trump. Before the launch, he wrote that he was heading to the "Great State of Texas" to watch the launch of the "largest object ever to lift off from Earth," and later posted a photo of himself from behind watching the rocket take off on his Truth Social account.
CBS News reminds that during his election campaign, Trump had called on Musk to "launch these rockets" and aimed to reach Mars during his new presidential term.
The "Starship" rocket is the heaviest rocket in history. Its first test launch took place in April 2023. During the fourth test in June, "Starship" successfully returned to Earth for the first time.
In October 2024, during the fifth flight, SpaceX successfully returned the reusable first stage of the "Super Heavy" rocket to Earth.
