The earthquake in Hualien County in Taiwan has become the strongest on the island in the past 25 years. This was reported by the head of the Central Meteorological Administration of the island, Fu Cheng-hao.
"Today's earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 has become the most powerful since September 21, 1999. Tremors were felt throughout Taiwan, including in its central and northern parts," he said.
