The Olympic Village in Tashkent is turning into not only a venue for major competitions but also a scientific and practical hub where training, education, and medicine come together. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed that this complex will become the foundation for the nation’s health and future sporting achievements.
On August 18, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Olympic Village in Tashkent and presented its development concept.
The head of state emphasized that the complex should unite not only training facilities but also education, science, and medicine. The Ministry of Sports, the Anti-Doping Agency, the State Sports Academy, the Research Institute of Physical Culture, and the Center for the Development of Sports have already been established within the complex.
The Olympic Village will host international competitions, but after their completion, the facilities will be used for national team training camps and will also be open for the general public.
“We have laid a solid foundation for the health of the younger generation and future victories. But what is even more important is the mass development of sports and the preparation of professional athletes,” said the President. Similar Olympic complexes are planned to be built in other regions of the country.
Mirziyoyev noted that the achievements at the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games were an important milestone, but the main goal is to create a sustainable system for athlete training. To this end, a three-stage competition system called “Olympic Peaks of New Uzbekistan” has been introduced. Its final stage will be held annually in Tashkent under the name “Presidential Olympics.”
The President also instructed to strengthen the work of sports federations, digitalize the sector, expand the role of private clubs in competitions, and further develop mass sports in local communities. “Our people love sports. This love must be nurtured and sports should become even more widespread,” he stressed.
