Uzbek watermelons conquer Russian markets

From 16 to 19 June, 97 tonnes of watermelons from Uzbekistan were imported into the Rostov region, the press service of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation reported.
The products were declared safe and released into circulation.
"In the samples taken from the received products, no quarantine objects were found. Subsequently, the products were released into circulation," the statement said.
According to the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, from January to June 2023, Uzbekistan exported 6.5 thousand tons of watermelons worth 3 million US dollars to 14 countries worldwide. The countries to which Uzbekistan exported the most watermelons in the first six months of 2023 are:
Kazakhstan — 2 thousand tons
Kyrgyzstan — 2 thousand tons
Russia — 1.5 thousand tons
Latvia — 500 tons
Lithuania — 135 tons
Germany — 115 tons
Belarus — 34 tons
"In the samples taken from the received products, no quarantine objects were found. Subsequently, the products were released into circulation," the statement said.
