Uzbekistan Launches Camel Sports Federation

Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan has officially established the Federation of Camel Racing and Chovgan, marking a new stage in the country’s sports development and international engagement.

Uzbekistan Launches Camel Sports Federation
The Federation will oversee the training of riders, camel breeding and preparation, development of chovgan, and organization of national championships and festivals. For the first time, these sports will receive systematic state-level support.

International Cooperation
Uzbekistan has already joined the International Chovgan Federation and is in talks to become a full member of the World Camelids Sports Federation. This will allow Uzbek athletes to participate in official international competitions recognized by the Olympic Council of Asia.

Preparation for Major Tournaments
The national team is preparing for its debut at the 2025 Asian Youth Games in Bahrain (October 22–31) and the Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia (November 7–21).

Domestic Development
The Federation plans to establish regional branches and organize national championships and festivals to promote camel racing and chovgan among young people.

Camel racing is recognized internationally and is actively developing in more than 20 countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, and Australia. The creation of the Federation in Uzbekistan is a timely step that opens new opportunities for sports diplomacy and tourism.
