The official opening ceremony of the "Uzbekistan Tourism Year in China" took place in Beijing. The event was organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in collaboration with the State Committee for Tourism, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, and the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
As part of the "Uzbekistan Tourism Year in China," a series of cultural, tourism, and economic events, media tours, visits from tourism companies, and a range of articles and programs in Chinese media are planned in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Xi'an, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and many others.
Participants received detailed information about the reforms implemented in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector in recent years, the favorable conditions created for foreign tourists, and the country’s tourism potential and opportunities.
China’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Lu Inchuan, noted that Uzbekistan is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for Chinese tourists.
UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili highlighted Uzbekistan’s significant tourism potential in his speech and emphasized the organization’s continued close cooperation with Uzbekistan in the tourism sector.
During the event, a business forum on tourism and investment, presentations, and B2B meetings were also held.
It is worth noting that on December 1, 2024, the Foreign Ministers of both countries signed an agreement allowing citizens of China and Uzbekistan to travel freely within each other's territories without a visa for up to 30 days.
