Uzbekistan’s First Ambassador Presents Credentials to the President of the Republic of Cyprus

Uzbekistan's newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Abat Fayzullayev (based in Rome), presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.
During the ceremony of accepting credentials from foreign diplomats, the President of Cyprus warmly welcomed the new ambassadors, wished them success in fulfilling their duties, and expressed hope for their contributions to the development of bilateral and multilateral relations.
President Christodoulides highlighted the prospects of relations with Uzbekistan. "We place special emphasis on developing bilateral ties with Uzbekistan as well as cooperation within the framework of the European Union," he said.
It is worth noting that diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Cyprus were established on May 30, 1997.
Abat Fayzullayev became Uzbekistan's first ambassador to Cyprus. He was appointed as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Italy in October 2023.
President Christodoulides highlighted the prospects of relations with Uzbekistan. "We place special emphasis on developing bilateral ties with Uzbekistan as well as cooperation within the framework of the European Union," he said.
