Uzbekistan's First Ambassador to Iceland Presents Credentials

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Ravshan Usmanov (residing in London), presented his credentials to the President of Iceland, Halla Tómasdóttir. This was reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.
After the official ceremony, during the discussion, President Halla Tómasdóttir emphasized that the appointment of an Uzbek ambassador to Iceland for the first time in the history of bilateral relations is undoubtedly the result of the open and pragmatic foreign policy pursued by the President of Uzbekistan in recent years.
Additionally, views were exchanged on the prospects for developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Iceland. Particular attention was paid to strengthening ties in trade, economic, cultural, and tourism sectors.
The Icelandic leader highlighted that cooperation in areas such as energy, high technology and digitalization, fisheries, tourism, and environmental protection would be mutually beneficial.
At the end of the meeting, President Halla Tómasdóttir wished prosperity and sustainable development to the leadership and people of Uzbekistan and success to the ambassador in his efforts to develop and expand bilateral relations.
It should be noted that diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Iceland were established on September 25, 1997.
Ambassador Ravshan Usmanov also presented his credentials to King Charles III of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland on May 16, 2024.
