New rules of visa-free regime between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan came into force on 15 January this year. Now citizens of the two countries are exempted from the obligation to register in the country where they stay up to 15 days.

It is reported that an agreement between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan on visa-free travel of citizens was signed on 18 June 1997. Now this agreement has been supplemented and amended. The relevant protocol was signed on 22 August 2023 in Baku and entered into force on 15 January 2024.

This protocol is aimed at creating favourable conditions for citizens of both republics and establishes that they will be exempted from the obligation to enter and exit Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, transit and registration with the competent authorities of the country they are in for 15 days.
