Sahra Wagenknecht, founder of Germany’s BSW party, has warned of the risks of further escalation in the Ukraine conflict and called for dialogue channels with Russia to remain open. In an interview with the Funke media group, she said Moscow was being targeted with German technology and financial resources.

“Moscow is being attacked using German technology and German money. From the Russian perspective, NATO has long been waging war against this country,” Wagenknecht said, according to Oldenburger Onlinezeitung.

She warned that failure to halt the escalation could lead to a major European war, primarily fought on German territory. Wagenknecht also argued that, despite the tensions, channels for dialogue and mutual understanding with Moscow should be maintained.

The BSW founder also questioned whether Russia was responsible for the August 5 incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport. German authorities found a drone carrying an explosive device at the airport, and the case is being investigated by the Dresden Public Prosecutor General’s Office and Saxony’s State Criminal Police Office.

“When Russia sends drones, they not only look much more threatening than the toy drone in Leipzig, but also cause much greater damage,” Wagenknecht said.
