The US and Israel are discussing the possibility of creating an interim government in the Gaza Strip with UN support and participation of Arab states. This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to sources.

According to the publication, the negotiations between the parties are at the initial stage and will depend on changes in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, in particular on the ground operation of Israeli troops.

It is noted that the establishment of an interim Government in the Gaza Strip is "incredibly difficult" and the support of Arab states will be "an even greater challenge".

"A plan that involved Arab governments would require a major shift in how Arab states accept risk and work with one another. It would also require a leap of trust by Jerusalem — a commodity in short supply," notes William Asher, a former CIA analyst.

CNN reports that the United States and its Western allies, in private conversations with Israeli officials, are not discouraging them from conducting a ground operation in the Palestinian enclave, but are asking them to consider a long-term strategy for the future development of the Gaza Strip.
