News from Day 1,078 of the war. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Western countries to provide Ukraine with nuclear weapons if the country is not admitted to NATO. He stated this in an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan.

Zelensky Seeks Ways to End the War
Zelenskyy added that if the West does not accept Ukraine into the Alliance, nuclear weapons are necessary to stop Russian President Vladimir Putin’s new attacks. According to the Ukrainian leader, the transfer of nuclear weapons to Kyiv would be a powerful step to halt Russia’s new military actions against Ukraine.

Zelenskyy acknowledged that Ukraine’s accession to NATO may be delayed for a long time, but emphasized the need to take action to end this devastating war. He also called on Western countries to provide nuclear weapons and expand Ukraine's military capabilities.

Additionally, Zelenskyy urged Western countries to consider other ways of helping Ukraine, including deploying their troops on Ukrainian territory or financing an army of millions. “To help us, numbers alone are not enough; concrete steps are needed,” he stressed.

If Ukraine does not join NATO, Zelenskyy said Putin must completely leave Ukrainian territory. This, in his opinion, demonstrates the necessity of taking stronger measures against Russia’s aggressive policies.

Zelenskyy said: “If we join NATO, it will help strengthen the security of not just Ukraine, but all of Europe. However, if this is not possible, we need the necessary means to defend ourselves. Acquiring nuclear weapons may become the last resort.”

Furthermore, Zelenskyy stated that he is ready to negotiate with Putin with the participation of the U.S. and Europe. “If this is the only way to secure peace for the citizens of Ukraine and not lose our people, we will choose this option,” said Zelenskyy.
