Afghanistan seeks to strengthen ties with Central Asia and assures that it poses no threat to its neighbors. A meeting between the Prime Ministers of Uzbekistan and the Taliban government took place in Tashkent, where key issues of regional security and the fight against drug trafficking were discussed.
In the capital of Uzbekistan, talks were held between the Prime Minister of the republic, Abdulla Aripov, and the head of the Taliban government, Mullah Abdulgani Barodar. During the meeting, the Afghan side assured that it does not pose a threat to Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries.
Barodar emphasized that Afghanistan's new leadership is actively combating the cultivation and distribution of drugs. According to him, Kabul is taking measures to stop drug trafficking across the borders of neighboring countries.
Uzbekistan's position on Afghanistan remains unchanged: Tashkent advocates for developing economic ties and maintaining stability in the region. However, many experts believe that for full trust in the Afghan government, real actions are needed, not just diplomatic statements.
