The Arab League fully supports the lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice accusing it of "committing genocide" in the Gaza Strip. This was stated by the Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Abu al-Ghaith.

The head of the organisation hailed South Africa “for filing the lawsuit that prioritizes human values above all considerations.”

He expressed hope that the International Court of Justice would make a "fair and brave" judgement that would put an end to the shedding of Palestinian blood.

South Africa's lawsuit against Israel over possible genocide in the Gaza Strip began at the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague on 11 January.

South Africa sued Israel at the UN International Court of Justice on 29 December 2023 for violating the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
