The Gaza Strip has become a place of death and despair. Health care is on the verge of collapse. UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths said.

"Three months since the horrific 7 October attacks, Gaza has become a place of death and despair," Griffiths pointed out.

He reported that tens of thousands of people, mostly women and children, have been killed or injured, families are sleeping in the open, and temperatures are plummeting.

He noted that areas where Israel has ordered civilians to relocate for safety have been bombed by Israeli bombardment.

"A public health disaster unfolding before our eyes. Infectious diseases are spreading in overcrowded shelters as sewers spill over. Some 180 Palestinian women are giving birth daily amidst this chaos," the Under-Secretary-General said.

Griffiths also warned of rising tensions in the West Bank and the regional spread of the war.
