Paris Summit: AI is Changing the Rules of War
Technology
Representatives of the global military community gathered in Paris to discuss how artificial intelligence is transforming modern warfare. Amid rapid technological advancements, French President Emmanuel Macron urged the EU to accelerate AI integration in defense. However, data sharing remains a major challenge.
One of the key difficulties is access to critical data needed to train AI algorithms. Weapons manufacturers are reluctant to share classified information, which slows down the integration of AI into military systems.
"When it comes to sovereign data, we cannot simply share it," said AI expert Christophe Meyer.
However, NATO warns that modern conflicts, such as the war in Ukraine, demonstrate that without new technologies, allies risk falling behind their adversaries. Supreme Allied Commander for Transformation Pierre Vandier emphasized that rapid adaptation has become a matter of survival.
The summit has already yielded results: French startup Mistral AI and German company Helsing announced a partnership to develop AI solutions for EU defense.
