President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has sent condolences to the Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei regarding the tragic death of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi and his accompanying officials as a result of a disaster in the north of the country.

In his letter, the President of Uzbekistan noted that the bright memory of Ebrahim Raisi, who made a significant contribution to the development of comprehensive cooperation and mutually beneficial, long-term partnership between Uzbekistan and Iran, will forever remain in the hearts of the peoples of both countries. The head of state expressed sincere words of sympathy and support to the people of Iran, as well as to the families and friends of the victims.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, also expressed his condolences. "We are very saddened to learn about the fatal helicopter crash carrying the President of Iran H.E. Ebrahim Raisi, my dear brother H.E. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials of the Iranian government. On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, we express our deepest condolences to the close ones of the victims and all the people of Iran," wrote the Uzbek Foreign Minister on his Telegram channel.

Earlier, it was reported that President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash in the East Azerbaijan province of Iran on May 19.
