The world has come unacceptably close to the point of no return, stated Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 14 during a meeting with the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry, reports the news agency "Izvestia."

He noted that today's situation has been caused by the selfishness and arrogance of Western countries.

"In the end, the selfishness and arrogance of Western states have led to the current extremely dangerous state of affairs. We have come unacceptably close to the point of no return. Calls to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, which possesses the largest nuclear arsenal, demonstrate the extreme recklessness of Western politicians," Putin said.

The Russian President also pointed to the collapse of the Euro-Atlantic security system and proposed creating a new security system in Eurasia.

"The international community had a unique chance to build a reliable and fair security order. For this, not much was required: simply the ability to listen to the opinions of all interested parties and mutual readiness to consider them. [...] We have consistently pointed out the erroneous course of the West. [...] We are witnessing the collapse of Euro-Atlantic security. In fact, we need to create it anew, to formulate a new security framework in Eurasia," Putin added.
