Russia and Ukraine conducted a large-scale prisoner exchange
On Wednesday, March 19th, Russia and Ukraine held the largest prisoner exchange in recent times. 175 prisoners of war and captured civilians from each side returned home.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for their assistance in organizing the exchange. He also noted that all released prisoners will receive the necessary medical and psychological assistance.

In addition, Russia handed over 22 seriously wounded Ukrainian soldiers as a "goodwill gesture."

This exchange took place against the backdrop of partial ceasefire negotiations, in which US President Donald Trump played a key role, discussing ceasefire terms with Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The question remains open, but the exchange of prisoners is seen as a possible step towards dialogue between the parties.
