Sugar consumption in schools and kindergartens of Kyrgyzstan has been reduced

The Ministry of Education and Science is taking measures to reduce children's excessive sugar consumption. This was reported by Jogorku Kenesh deputy Dastan Bekeshev.
According to information from the ministry, the daily sugar consumption norm in schools and kindergartens has been reduced from 50 grams to 30 grams. In school canteens, local dried fruit compotes without added sugar are being offered instead of tea.
The deputy added that a methodological guide called "Young Gardener" has been developed to teach students and their parents proper nutrition in order to reduce excessive sugar consumption.
According to the Ministry of Education, the "Fundamentals of a Healthy Lifestyle" program has been introduced for elementary school students. Additionally, an online course has been launched to train cooks for educational institutions.
Earlier, Dastan Bekeshev stated that he intends to appeal to state agencies with an initiative for a large-scale anti-sugar campaign, particularly in educational organizations.
