The Heating Energy Supply Sector Will Be Radically Reformed
Uzbekistan
The President has signed Resolution No. PQ-100 "On Measures for the Radical Reform of the Heating Energy Supply Sector for Residential and Building Structures and the Improvement of Energy Efficiency in Buildings."
According to the resolution, the key directions for ensuring a stable heating energy supply to residential and building structures, as well as enhancing their energy efficiency over the next five years, include:
Implementing a unified state policy in this sector, developing strategic proposals based on advanced foreign experience, and establishing an organization to manage and coordinate the activities of heating supply enterprises;
Constructing local boiler houses and introducing other alternative technologies in the heating systems of multi-apartment buildings with four or more floors that are not connected to centralized heating supply, thereby reducing a household’s gas demand by at least 20%.
The following measures will be implemented:
Modernization of 103 outdated boiler houses and 1,600 km of heating networks in centralized heating systems;
Implementation of 9 projects under public-private partnerships and 13 projects in cities and districts with the participation of international financial institutions;
Expanding centralized heating coverage from 37% to 58% and reducing system losses from 38% to 20%.
