President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a delegation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan headed by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza.
The distinguished guest conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Discussions centered on the further development of multifaceted cooperation and strategic partnership, building on agreements reached during Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s visit to Uzbekistan in February.
The sides noted a significant boost in bilateral ties: since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has increased by 23%, cargo transportation by 50%, while trade houses have opened in Karachi and Lahore, and direct flights have become more frequent.
Practical cooperation in military and military-technical fields, as well as joint efforts to counter modern security challenges, were also reviewed.
Special attention was paid to the swift implementation of the Trans-Afghan railway project, which is set to link Central and South Asia.
