The state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Georgia has concluded. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze saw the distinguished guest off at Shota Rustaveli International Airport.
During his stay in Tbilisi, the head of state held talks with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
Key issues related to the further strengthening of Uzbek-Georgian friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation, as well as the expansion of practical interaction in the political, trade, economic, investment, transport, transit, tourism, and cultural and humanitarian spheres, were discussed.
Following the talks, a Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership Relations was signed. A substantial package of bilateral documents aimed at deepening cooperation in priority areas was also exchanged.
A ceremony to present the highest state award of Georgia, the Order of the Golden Fleece, to the leader of Uzbekistan took place at the Orbeliani Palace.
The head of state also took part in the unveiling of a monument to the great poet and thinker Alisher Navoi in Tbilisi.
Following his state visit, the President of Uzbekistan departed for Tashkent.
