On March 17, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a videoconference meeting on issues related to drinking water and heating supply, neighborhood improvement, and agriculture.
Efforts to improve the quality of life for the population are expanding. This year, it is planned to lay 1,619 km of drinking water pipelines and 521 km of wastewater networks, as well as build and reconstruct 162 facilities. As a result, 715,000 people will gain access to clean drinking water for the first time, 135,000 households will be connected to the sewage system, and 157,000 consumers will receive modern meters.
During the President's recent visit to France, agreements were reached on three projects worth 340 million euros to improve drinking water supply in the Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions. In particular, the French company "Suez" is taking over private management of the water supply system in Denov, Shurchi, Sariosiyo, and Kumkurgan. As a result, centralized water supply coverage in these regions is expected to reach 90%.
The meeting also addressed the spring planting campaign. Measures were outlined to simplify the allocation of land from local government reserves.
From now on, installment-based sales of agricultural land through auctions will be abolished. If a plot remains unsold at auction, its price will decrease by 10% daily in subsequent sales. Even if only one participant takes part in the repeated auction, they will be declared the winner. Between 10% and 20% of agricultural land will be allocated for growing livestock feed.
Currently, the activities of over 93,000 farmers are assessed based on an entrepreneurial rating. This rating will now be divided into separate criteria, such as productivity, number of workers, and product volume.
Farmers with high ratings will no longer be required to insure against the risk of loan default. Land tax will be reduced by three times, and membership fees for the Farmers’ Council will be halved. Farmers who produce yields above the norm will be allowed to rotate crops on 25% of their land, growing fodder, vegetables, legumes, and other plants.
Starting this year, 208 districts and cities have established internal road maintenance units within their municipal beautification departments. A budget of 700 billion UZS has been allocated to purchase five types of specialized equipment. Officials have been assigned tasks to repair internal roads and improve energy supply in neighborhoods.
