This was announced during negotiations between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Olimjon Abdullayev and the Mayor of Ulsan, South Korea, Kim Doo-Gyeom.

Ulsan Authorities to Simplify Work Visa Process for Uzbek Citizens
On March 17, the parties discussed expanding bilateral cooperation, including workforce training and the recruitment of Uzbek specialists for major industrial enterprises in Ulsan. For the first time in South Korea’s history, a mechanism will be introduced to allow Uzbek citizens to obtain work visas directly through the city’s municipality in a simplified manner.

According to the project, Uzbek citizens will be able to undergo a three-month course in professional training and Korean language. Upon completion, participants will be eligible to receive a work visa and gain official employment. If the pilot project is successful, the same approach may be implemented in other regions of South Korea.

The sides also discussed the possibility of organized employment for Uzbek citizens together with their families, provided they comply with visa regulations and avoid illegal residency.

Following the meeting, both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of employment, including engaging Uzbek citizens in South Korea’s industrial and other sectors of the economy.
