US Congress agrees on temporary government funding plan
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said that avoiding a shutdown requires bipartisan cooperation in the Senate and House to quickly pass a bill and send it to the President before Friday's deadline.
He said the US Senate will begin the process of voting on the bill on 16 January.
Politico reported earlier that the US Congress is considering passing a compromise bill to extend funding for government operations until March 2024. According to the newspaper, the House of Representatives and the Senate were able to reach an agreement on this project, despite the expressed dissatisfaction of the speaker of the lower house of the U.S. Congress, Mike Johnson.
